Happy 42nd birthday to actress Hilary Swank today! One of her most noted roles was in the film, “Million Dollar Baby”, for which she won the Best Actress Oscar in 2005. In “Million Dollar Baby”, Swank’s character, Maggie, is a boxer who battles her way up to a match that offers a million dollar prize. During the bout, Swank’s character was knocked out by an illegal sucker punch, hits her neck on the stool in the corner, and becomes a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic.
Around the nation, Americans who have a spinal cord disorder (like Multiple Sclerosis) or injury (like Swank’s character, Maggie) are assisted by the United Spinal Association. The Spinal Association works to provide support and services to Americans living with spinal cord injuries, their families, and those they work with, including caretakers and other professionals.
Here at NTI, we are proud of the Spinal Association and we also work to help Americans with spinal cord injuries or disorders in their return to the workforce. If you or a loved one has a spinal cord injury and are on SSI, SSDI or have a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, and you’d like to return to work, we can help.
